Student leaders collected more than $16,000 this year from seniors, their parents, grandparents and friends in support of the Senior Class Gift campaign, which will fund the Class of 2010 Sustainability Research Grants for students who desire to complete research on sustainability practices.
A total of 375 students, parents, grandparents and friends contributed $16,062.05 to the campaign. Senior Class President Jay Reno presented a check for the total amount to Elon University President Leo M. Lambert on May 22, 2010, prior to Commencement ceremonies.
Brian Fisher, Daniel Harwell, Amanda Keller, Mitch Plummer, Jessica Sikking and Avra Stackpole – members of Senior Class Gift Committee – led the campaign encouraging classmates to demonstrate their commitment to giving back to Elon before they graduate.
Relatives and friends contributed to the Class of 2010 Sustainability Research Grants made their gifts in honor of their graduating seniors.
In welcoming the Class of 2010 to the Alumni Association, Alumni Board President Kelli Palmer ’98 encouraged graduates to stay connected to Elon and be strong advocates for the university.
Each year, the university relies on annual gifts from alumni, parents, students and friends to support the best of an Elon education: excellent faculty, outstanding facilities, scholarships and signature programs such as study abroad, internships, research and service learning.
