Kamol Jiyankhodjaev will be joining the faculty of the School of Education at Elon University this month as a visiting Fulbright scholar from Uzbekistan. His Fulbright award is a joint appointment with Teacher’s College of Columbia University and the School of Education at Elon University.
With research interests in change management in the education sector, Jiyankhodjaev holds advanced degrees from Moscow University and has served in a multitude of roles in Uzbekistan as well as internationally.
He has been the country director for several large international projects funded through USAID and the European Union. His work is highly respected in the Central Asian republics, with expertise in educational reform, school finance and organizational structure. Jiyankhodjaev has advised members of education ministries throughout Central Asia as well as international donors who wish to proceed with development projects.
Jiyankhodjaev will be at Elon until early November. During his time at the university, he will be working with faculty members Mark Enfield and Bird Stasz on his research project and will be visiting administrators and classroom teachers in regional public schools. He will also be an active participant in Elon University courses in the School of Education and in the Global Studies program.
His expertise in political structures and reform coupled with fluency in six languages has made him a valuable member of the international education community.
