7/13: Dayton Daily News (Ohio): “Government workers glamorous in movies, UD research says” The Seen and Overheard blog for the Daily News profiles research co-authored by professor Laura Roselle and Elon alum Michelle Pautz ’03, currently a University of Dayton assistant professor, on the portrayal of civil servants in cinema. 7/15: Daily Tar Heel (Chapel Hill, N.C.): “Turning up the heat: College campuses are conserving more energy” The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill daily newspaper reports on energy conservation efforts at regional universities, including Elon, which has seen a 5 percent reduction in energy use since thermostats have been set at 76 degrees in the summer months.
7/15: The Myrtle Beach Sun News: “Volleyball finds a home in Myrtle Beach area” A short profile on two professional volleyball players, including Adam Roberts ’98, who graduated with a degree in business management.
7/19: The Detroit News (via San Francisco Chronicle): “Millenials won’t lose reliance on technology” was a report on the Pew Research Center/Elon University survey on the changing demographics of social media users.
7/19: The Pilot (Southern Pines, N.C.): “India Through a Lens: Unforgettable Scenes of Hope and Heartbreak” Junior Jack Dodson, an intern for the Pilot, shares in a first person narrative his experience traveling to India earlier in the summer with other Periclean scholars from Elon.
7/19: Runner’s World: “A Brief Chat With Blake Russell” Contributor Peter Gambaccini publishes a Q&A with Blake Russell ’01, a graduate of the physical therapy program and a 2008 Olympic marathon runner.
7/22: Religion News Service (via Huffington Post): “Gay Debate Mirrors 19th-Century Church Dispute On Slavery” cites associate professor Charles Irons and his comparison of today’s debate over homosexuality in churches to the debates over slavery.
7/22: Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area: “Open government group raises endowment” reported on the Sunshine Center of the N.C. Open Government Coalition (housed at Elon) reaching its $500,000 endowment goal.
7/26: The Chronicle of Higher Education: “Great Colleges to Work For” special report lists Elon as one of 97 colleges and universities lauded for its dedication to employees.

7/27: The Cape Cod Times: “Barnstable High Grad to appear on Jay Leno” reports on Elon students Lauren Kenney and Evann Clingan appearing on a July 27 skit with the late night host.
7/28: WUNC/North Carolina Public Radio’s “The State of Things”: In “Sir Paul Plays Charlotte,” associate professor Mike Frontani, who has written a book on The Beatles, speaks with host Frank Stasio on the popularity of Paul McCartney.
7/28: The Huffington Post: “The BEST Colleges to Work For: Chronicle of Higher Education Report (PHOTOS)” The Huffington Post selected nine of the 97 schools to make the Chronicle’s “Best Colleges to Work For” list and showcased Elon as one of the three mid-sized schools that “truly surpassed the rest.”
8/2010: Reader’s Digest: “Game Boys” is a short feature story on the efforts of Peter Gallagher, an incoming Elon University freshman, and his friend to collect video games for donation to troops overseas. (Not currently available online.)
