School of Communications internship Director and assistant professor Nagatha Tonkins recently chaired a panel discussion at the 35th Annual Convention and Career Fair for the National Association of Black Journalists in San Diego.
Almost 1,800 journalists attended the Power of Change Convention from July 28-Aug. 1, which included journalists and speakers such as NBC News anchor Lester Holt, CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien and TV host Dr. Mehmet Oz of the “Dr. Oz Show.”
Tonkins chaired a panel titled, “The Convention Playbook: Navigating Your Way to Success,” which focused on how to best approach the career fair, how to interact with recruiters/ hiring managers, and how ultimately to walk away with valuable lessons, new mentors and internship/job prospects.
Elon School of Communications senior Crystal Moyer and recent Communications graduate Cyntra Brown also attended the convention.
