A collection of collages by Megan Coyle '08 has been juried into The Art League of Alexandria's visiting artist program.
As part of the program, the collection, “Stories in Paper,” will be exhibited in The Art League’s gallery at Torpedo Factory Art Center in Old Town Alexandria from July 8 to Aug. 2. “Stories in Paper” depicts scenes of everyday life that, at first glance, appear to be painted, but in reality are collages carefully crafted from small pieces of magazine photos.
Coyle, who graduated from Elon with a degree in painting and creative writing, was profiled in an article in the Alexandria Times on July 1. Please click the first link to the right to read the story.
In May, Coyle’s solo exhibition, “Piece by Piece: Figurative Collage,” appeared at the Fisher Gallery in Alexandria. She was featured in the July issue of elan magazine, a publication dedicated to the arts in Northern Virginia. The article is titled “Elements of Surprise: Creating Painterly Effects with Paper.”
