John Sullivan publishes essay on joy

John G. Sullivan, Powell Professor of Philosophy Emeritus, has published a new essay titled “The Doorway to Joy.”

The essay appears in the Summer 2010 issue of Second Journey’s electronic journal Itineraries, as part of John’s new series Four Paths to Wholeness: (1) Love, (2) Compassion, (3) Joy and (4) Equanimity. These four are what, in Buddhism, are called the Brahmaviharas – the Four Divine Ways of Dwelling (also called the Four Immeasurable Minds).
