Elon University’s Martha and Spencer Love School of Business has partnered with the European School of Business at Reutlingen University, Germany, to offer a dual degree program in international business.
The program provides students with the opportunity to earn degrees from both universities by studying two years at each and fulfilling both degree requirements. Elon students who have met the eligibility requirements may apply to the program and begin coursework at ESB starting in 2012. Students in the program will complete an internship while studying abroad. Starting in 2012, students from ESB pursuing dual degrees will come to Elon and take business courses in the Love School of Business and complete an internship in the United States.
The dual degree program with ESB Reutlingen will expose Elon students to international business and give them a competitive edge in the global marketplace. Other schools in the United States involved in the German-American program with ESB include Northeastern, Drexel, and North Carolina State.
“The students who participate in the program will become comfortable in two cultures and two business cultures. Other LSB students will benefit from having German students in their business classes,” says Thomas Tiemann, professor of economics and director of the dual degree program.
Dean Mary Gowan describes the importance of programs such as this one for the Love School of Business: “We are very pleased to partner with ESB and become part of their international partnership group. The program helps us achieve our strategic initiative of creating global citizens who can make a difference in their professions, their organizations, and the global economy.”
ESB Reutlingen University is located near Stuttgart, Germany, and is one of the leading business schools in Europe. The university is recognized as one of the most international in Germany.
