Alexis Martinez has been named assistant dean for student affairs at Elon University School of Law. She earned degrees in higher education administration and law from the University of Miami. Meanwhile, Lisa Watson joins the Elon Law library with degrees in law and library science from the University of Kentucky School of Law and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Assistant Dean for Student Affairs
Martinez joins Elon Law after serving in the office of student life at the Syracuse University College of Law since 2006, most recently as the Director for Student Programs & Pro Bono Initiatives. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration and Enrollment Management from the University of Miami, as well as a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law. While completing her Masters in Education, she served as Coordinator of Student Affairs at the University of Miami School of Law, helping to advise student organizations. In addition, she worked with HOPE, the Public Interest Resource Center, coordinating community service and pro bono opportunities for law students at UM. Martinez has coordinated leadership development and peer mentoring programs for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as training sessions on programming, leadership and retreat planning. Her professional affiliations include the American Bar Association, the Florida State Bar Association, the Onondaga County Bar Association, the American College Professionals Association and the National Association of Student Affairs Professionals.
Lisa C. Watson

Watson holds a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology and history from the University of Kentucky, a J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law, and a Master of Science in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Information and Library Science. She has served as a graduate assistant in the Kathrine R. Everett Law Library of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and as a research graduate assistant for the University Archives and Records Management Services division of the Wilson Library at UNC, Chapel Hill. Watson also has served as assistant county attorney for the Hopkins County Attorney’s Office, in Madisonville, Kentucky.
