Jon Meacham will deliver a speech titled “Andrew Jackson and the Art of Leadership: Old Hickory in a New Century” for the Baird Pulitzer Prize Lecture at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 27 in McCrary Theatre.
Meacham, the former editor of Newsweek magazine, is a Pulitzer Prize winning bestselling author and a commentator on politics, history and religious faith in America. He will describe how Jackson rose to power and stayed there managing both elite and mass opinion by force of personality with an instinct for power.
