Faculty, students and staff now have round-the-clock, on-demand access online to a library of popular software from any computer, anywhere in the world, thanks to VirtualApps.
Members of the Elon community currently must visit a particular computer lab during normal hours of operation to use some specific software. While anyone will still be able to visit labs for specific software, VirtualApps allows people with an Elon “username” to log in to a web-based system to access specialized software.
This access gives Elon students, faculty and staff the flexibility of using the software on campus, at home and even while studying abroad.
The initial efforts in virtualized software includes SPSS, Mathematica, Atlas TI and Adobe Design Suite Premium, which includes InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro, Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks. VirtualApps is not platform specific and can be used by both Windows and Mac operating systems.
