John G. Sullivan, Powell Professor of Philosophy Emeritus will offer a workshop Coming to God through Stories at Healing Ground Retreat Center, Summerfield, NC 27358 on Friday, September 24, 2010 -- 10 am - 4 pm.
Description: This workshop builds lets us dwell in teaching stories from a variety of faith traditions: Zen Buddhist, Jewish Hasidic, Christian parables and stories from the Sufis of Islam.
We shall approach the stories in such a way that (1) we are all the characters in the story – heroes, heroines, villains and supporting players, (2) the stories are taking place here, now and always, (3) the stories are pointing to the Great Mystery – our Ever-present Origin and Goal, and (4) the stories are calling us to come to life more fully so are to serve life with more love and compassion, joy and peace.
