Nineteen Business Fellows and six faculty members from the Love School of Business traveled to New York City September 23-26 to visit Wall Street firms and network with Elon alumni as part of the annual Business Fellows Fall NYC trip.
On Thursday, students interested in accounting visited PricewaterhouseCoopers, thanks to the invitation of Elon alumnus and LSB Board of Advisors member Sam Burke. Finance students were hosted by Elon alumnus Shane Powers at Credit Suisse. Marketing, management and entrepeneurship students were hosted by another alumnus at David Beahm Designs, and then spent time at Thomson Reuters courtesy of an Elon parent. Business Fellows and faculty were joined by Elon alumni for a reception Thursday evening hosted by Thomson Reuters.
Friday began with a visit to NYSE Euronext, hosted by Barclays and arranged by Gary Tsarsis, LSB finance professor and director of the Reed Finance Center. Several Business Fellows had the opportunity to shake hands with Prime Minister of Mongolia Batbold Sukhbaatar, who rang the opening bell. Other company visits on Friday included Nomura, Merrill Lynch and Symrise.
Elon Business Fellows were accompanied by Dean Mary Gowan, Business Fellows advisor Carolina Gomez, finance professors Wonhi Synn and Gary Tsarsis, LSB Executive-in-Residence Margaret Miller, and LSB Associate Career Services director Richard Jordan.
