Infants needed for DPT research study

Are you a mother of an infant age 3-9 months of age?  You might be interested in our research study that provides you with a free consultation with a licensed physical therapist for your baby and a $15 gift card to Target!

Three Elon Doctor of Physical Therapy students are researching the variations in motor development of typically developing full-term infants from ages 3 to 9 months. Along with a licensed physical therapist they will be using the Alberta Infant Motor Scale to evaluate infants and compare them to norms. This assessment tool looks at what infants do during normal play on their stomach, back, in sitting, etc. In addition, we will be asking caregivers to fill out a short questionnaire. All of this should take about 30 minutes, allowing for breaks as needed. Location for the evaluation is flexible and can take place at Elon in the Department of Physical Therapy Education, in your home or a mutually agreed upon location. The project has been approved by Elon’s Institutional Review Board.

Participants will be thanked with a Target gift card and if they like, will receive a free consultation with a licensed physical therapist after the evaluation.

If you are interested and/or have any questions, please contact Katie Reynolds (Elon DPT student) by email (kreynolds3@elon.edu) with the age of your infant and your general availability. English and Spanish speaking families are welcome. We apologize, we do not have consent forms available in any other languages at this time.

Thank you for you time and we hope to hear from you!
