Live Oak Communications seeking account executives, team leaders, creative executives and assistant director

Live Oak Communications, Elon’s student-run, full-service communications agency, is currently seeking qualified applicants for the spring of 2011. Live Oak develops and executes communications programs for businesses and not-for-profit organizations in the North Carolina region.

Services offered include public relations, advertising, special event marketing, viral marketing, media relations, website development, video creation and graphic design. Students from all majors and years are encouraged to apply for specific positions. All hired positions receive class credit and give students professional experience.

“Live Oak bridges the gap between the hypothetical strategic communications plans we learn about in a classroom and the implementation of these strategies and tactics,” said Nicole Parker, director of Live Oak.

Live Oak serves six to eight clients every semester, both on and off campus. Past clients have included Earth Share of North Carolina, the Alamance Veterinary Hospital, Pro Feet sports socks, the Durham Arts Council, Farm Bureau of Alamance County and the Edible School Yard of the Greensboro Children’s Museum.

“The agency provides us the opportunity to demonstrate and enhance our creative abilities through website design, advertising campaigns and promotional videos for both local and national clients,” said Luke Lovett, the creative director for the agency.

Live Oak has particular interest in students with business, marketing, art and design backgrounds, as well as students with communications expertise. Students may apply by filling out an application and returning it by Nov. 5 to Professor Lee Bush, Campus Box 2850, or by turning it in to the School of Communications office in McEwen 101. Contact Bush if you have any questions at lbush3@elon.edu.

Interviews will be conducted in mid-November by the director and assistant director.

Also be sure to visit the Live Oak Open House from 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26 in the Live Oak office.
