Lumen Scholar studies church reactions to slavery

Churches have always split on doctrinal or political grounds, and prior to the Civil War, that wedge issue, more often than not, was slavery. Elon University senior Amber Woods explored how early churches in Kentucky responded to debates over emancipation, and her undergraduate research is the latest to be featured in a series of E-net profiles on Lumen Scholars in the Class of 2011.

Elon Mock Trial to Attend Invitational Tournament at Brandeis University

The Elon Mock Trial program will compete Oct. 30-31 among two dozen teams from 14 universities in the 5th Annual Justice Louis Brandeis Mock Trial Invitational Tournament at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. Elon is sending one team of verterans representing students from all majors and departments to compete at the tournament.

Elon Poll: Burr approval numbers low as election nears

With the 2010 congressional midterm elections less than a week away, only one third of respondents in the latest Elon University poll believed Republican U.S. Sen. Richard Burr deserves re-election as he fends off Democratic challenger Elaine Marshall.
