Careers in Sports and Entertainment Law – Nov. 4

Elon Law students are invited to attend the panel presentation, Careers in Sports & Entertainment Law, on Thursday, November 4, from 5 to 6 p.m., in Classroom 207 at the law school.

Following the presentation, a small reception will be held for panelists and students. Please RSVP for the reception to kchisnall@elon.edu by noon on Monday, November 1. The event is sponsored by the Office of Careers Services at Elon Law.

Speakers will describe how one navigates into careers in sports and entertainment law and what their work in this area of law entails. Panelists include:

Charles Blackmon – Tuggle Duggins – Greensboro
Represents clients in the entertainment industry and sports-related fields. Well versed in contract drafting and negotiation, he is a Certified Contract Advisor for the National Football Association (NFLPA).

Nichelle N. Levy – Robinson, Bradshaw – Charlotte
Current practice includes Corporate and Commercial law, IP and Sports & Entertainment law. Prior to joining Robinson, Bradshaw, Ms. Levy was associated with Loeb & Loeb, LLP in its New York Entertainment Dept. While in law school at NYU, Ms. Levy was a legal intern with the National Hockey League.

Coe Ramsey – BrooksPierce – Greensboro
Practice focuses on communications and media law; entertainment and music law. In addition to representing radio and television stations on music licensing matters, his music and entertainment clients include bands, musicians, singers, songwriters, record companies, music producers, re-mixers, disc jockeys plus other artists.

Erik Albright – Smith Moore Leatherwood – Greensboro
Mr. Albright’s representation of clients in the sports industry has included representation of the Atlantic Coast Conference as lead counsel in the recent litigation concerning conference realignment, as well as representation of the local organizers of the Greensboro’s PGA golf tournament, among other matters.

Stokely G. Caldwell, Jr. – Robinson, Bradshaw – Charlotte
A recognized industry leader in sports law for over 20 years, Mr. Caldwell provides legal counsel to a variety of motorsports teams, drivers, owners, sponsors, agents, crew members, licensors and licensees. His sports practice extends beyond motorsports to include sports conferences, golfers, retired athletes and major sponsorships in Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association and the National Football League.
