Shawn Weatherford, instructor in physics, and Tony Crider, associate professor of physics, joined several Elon students at a regional meeting of the American Association of Physics Teachers at Davidson College on Oct. 22-23.
This semiannual conference brings together physics educators from universities, community colleges and high schools to discuss teaching techniques and to review student research.
Crider discussed his development and assessment of chapter-length science games in a presentation titled “Reacting to the Past: Role-playing in the Science Classroom.” Shawn Weatherford, instructor in physics, presented his research on the effectiveness of the Matter and Interactions physics curriculum in his presentation, “Rethinking the approach to scaffolding computational activities in M&I.”
