I would like to suggest a new course in dance that I am offering in the spring as an appropriate dance elective for dance majors, as well as an upper division outside of the major for all others. The course is DAN 320 C: DANCE CRITICISM and it meets from 10:30 to 12:10 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
DESCRIPTION–DAN 320C DANCE CRITICISM: This course will explore current theories, materials and methods considered in writing dance criticism and examine both the aesthetic and theoretical aspects of a dance work in order to prompt writing from either viewpoint. Methods will include group study, choreographic evaluation, application of research, and individual writing projects related to critical writing about dance.
