Carol Smith receives University Teacher of the Year Award at NCAAHPERD

Carol Smith, an associate professor in the Department of Health and Human Performance, received the Physical Education Association University Teacher of the Year Award at the Annual NCAAHPERD Conference held Nov. 10-13, 2010, in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The award recognizes a university educator who conducts a quality physical education program as reflected by North Carolina state curriculum and NASPE standards; utilizes various teaching methodologies and plans innovative learning experiences to meet the needs of all students; serves as a positive role model in regards to personal health and fitness, enjoyment of various activities, sportsmanship and the sensitivity to the needs of students; participates in professional development opportunities; provides service to the profession through leadership, presentations, and/or writing at the local and/or state level.
