Steve DeLoach, a professor of economics in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, has been named the 2011-11 Hollingsworth Visiting Scholar at Furman University. He will be presenting the Hollingsworth Lecture at Furman on Thursday, November 17.
The Hollingsworth Visiting Scholar program brings to Furman’s campus an economist with notable research achievements in an area of interest to faculty and students. The visiting scholar presents a research seminar to Furman economics students and professors, lectures in selected classes, and reads and critiques the work of Hollingsworth undergraduate research fellows who have been working on research projects throughout the previous summer.
DeLoach’s presentation is “Measuring the Impact of Microfinance on Child Health Outcomes in Indonesia.” His paper is co-authored by Erika Lamanna, a 2009 Elon graduate who is completing her master’s degree in economics at Vanderbilt University.
Lamanna and DeLoach started the paper in 2008 with a SURE grant.
