Members of the "Programming and Event Management" class in the Department of Sport and Event Management raised $525 to benefit the Campus Kitchen Project at Elon with a “Minute To Win It” event in McKinnon Hall on Nov. 16.
Twelve teams of five members each attempted to complete 10 different fun and challenging tasks with one minute time limits, similar to the popular television game show. Team members were required to perform two tasks each and the top four teams with the lowest aggregate times, progressed to the final rounds.
Each member of the winning team received $50 Target gift cards and the runner up team members received $20 Red Bowl gift certificates.
The Elon University Fun Fund supported the event with prizes and supplies. The following individuals and community businesses also provided various donations: Omega Sports, Smitty’s Homemade Ice Cream, Anna Maria’s Pizzeria, Victoria’s Pizza, The Tanning Gallery, Lowe’s Food Stores, Fat Frogg Bar & Grill, Jan-Pro Cleaning Systems, and the Premier Sport & Event Society.
Proceeds from the event were extended to Campus Kitchen at Elon University, a community service program that begins operations this spring when student volunteers package unserved food from campus dining halls for distribution to the hungry and needy in Alamance County. The Campus Kitchen Project is a joint effort between the Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement, ARAMARK and Allied Churches of Alamance County.
