“Car Show” class event raises $1,685 for veterans organization

Members of the “Programming and Event Management” class in the Department of Sport and Event Management organized a “Car Show” event at the Holly Hill Mall in Burlington in November, raising $1,685 for the Walter B. Ellis American Legion Post 63.

Elon holds Commencement for DPT candidates

Thirty-nine candidates in Elon University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program received their degrees on Dec. 12, 2010, in an afternoon ceremony that featured an address from the creator of Evidence in Motion, a highly regarded education and business practice consultation company within the physical therapy profession.

University receives grant for Elon Academy program

An organization that represents private colleges in North Carolina has awarded Elon University a grant of nearly $15,000 to fund a summer program for students about to graduate from local high schools and who make up the inaugural class of the Elon Academy college access program.

Wally Bixby has article accepted for publication

Wally Bixby, associate professor of exercise science, had his paper, "A dimensional investigation of the state anxiety inventory in an exercise setting: Cognitive vs. somatic," accepted for publication in the Journal of Sport Behavior. The article will appear in Volume 34(4) in 2011 and was co-authored by Brad Hatfield from the University of Maryland.

Coke iPod promotional winners

Elon trustees establish 56-acre Elon University Forest

The Elon University Board of Trustees voted Oct. 22 to designate a 56-acre undeveloped tract north of University Drive as the Elon University Forest, a dedicated land preserve and natural area. The action protects the largest remaining intact forest in the Town of Elon and safeguards thousands of species of plants, animals and other organisms.

Danieley C wins latest POWERless contest
