Elon alumna Rachel Cieri, a 2010 graduate who majored in journalism, placed 11th in the Hearst Journalism Awards Feature Writing competition.
She was recognized for her story “Violated: A look through the eyes of indecent exposure victims,” which centered on the stories of those Elon students who had been victimized by a local man who was indecently exposing himself around the town and campus.
Cieri, who served as features editor at The Pendulum, Elon Univeristy’s weekly student newspaper, is the third Pendulum student to place in a Hearst writing competition. Her finish put Elon University in a tie for 10th place in the overall competition.
