Chitwood is the author of seven books of poems – including Salt Works, Whet, The Weave Room and Spill – and two collections of essays, Hitting Below the Bible Belt and Finishing Touches. He teaches at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and works as a freelance writer.
