The North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys (NCAWA) and the Elon Women’s Law Association will present “Dress for Success” on Thursday, October 7. The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m., will offer female students tips for interviews and job attire, while serving as a benefit for disadvantaged women through the Dress for Success organization.
Furthermore, ‘Dress for Success” will give Elon Law students the opportunity to meet and mingle with women attorneys from the region and learn more about NCAWA.
NCAWA allows women lawyers in North Carolina to come together to build important personal and professional relationships. NCAWA’s vision is to build a strong community of women lawyers who make a difference in the profession and in society at large. NCAWA believes a strong community of women lawyers is essential to the administration of justice.
Founded in New York City in 1997, Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization offering services designed to help the organization’s clients find jobs and remain employed. Dress for Success provides disadvantaged women with professional attire, a network of support, and career development tools. Each Dress for Success client receives one suit when she has a job interview and can return for a second suit or separates when she finds work. Currently, women attorneys account for the largest group of donors for Dress for Success.
Although not required for admission, participants are encouraged to bring gently used or new accessories, such as shoes, purses, jewelry, and portfolios to be donated to Dress for Success.
“Dress for Success” will be held October 7, 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Elon Law. Wine and desserts will be served. Business attire is preferred; business casual attire is required. Please RSVP at http://www.mysignup.com/ncawa_elon.
