Tom Arcaro, a professor of sociology and director of Project Pericles at Elon, and Lauren Taylor '10, a Periclean Scholar during her studies at Elon, presented a talk on Jan. 28, 2011, at Thames Valley University in London.
The talk, “Higher Responsibility: The Role of Higher Education in Nurturing Effective Global Citizens,” was attended by a mix of faculty, administrators and former students at TVU.
Arcaro and Taylor were invited by Joelle Fanghanel, director of the Institute for Teaching, Innovation and Learning Centre at the university, to help stimulate conversation about initiating programs at TVU that might borrow some of the elements of the Periclean Scholars program.
