Matthew Valle, professor of business administration, and currently the 2010-2011 Distinguished Visiting Professor of Management at the United States Air Force Academy, recently had an article published in Business Education Innovation Journal.
The article “Using Cost-Volume-Profit (CVP) analysis to enhance student understanding of production costs and projected profits,” was published in Volume 2 of the 2010 issue of Business Education Innovation Journal. The article details the development of a classroom exercise to enhance student understanding of the relationship between business plans and business results. The exercise demonstrates the use and application of Cost-Volume-Profit (CVP) analysis as a way to help students better understand and forecast production costs and projected profits for a simulated manufacturing production run. As such, it provides a way to further integrate interdisciplinary thinking in business education.
Valle has published more than 30 refereed journal articles and 17 conference proceedings publications since coming to Elon University. He is also a frequent presenter at national and international conferences. He currently serves as the 2020-2011 Distinguished Visiting Professor of Management at the United States Air Force Academy where he is teaching a senior seminar on power and influence to members of the Class of 2011. He has also presented his research in faculty seminars at the AFA and serves as a faculty representative to the Varsity Lacrosse team. He coaches youth lacrosse in Monument, Colorado.
