The state Constitution leaves no doubt about who is in charge of government in North Carolina. “All political power is vested in and derived from the people,” it says. A proposed Constitutional amendment would underscore the sovereignty of the people by spelling out their right to access public records and attend meetings of public bodies. Lawmakers should support and embrace the bill.
