Pamela Lawrence, '12, and Michael Sprague, '11, are among a select group of North Carolina law students chosen by the Research Triangle Area Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel to receive the chapter's first-annual scholarship awards. Criteria for the scholarships include academic performance and an interest in the in-house practice of law.
Lawrence was named to the Dean’s List in both semesters of her first year of law school. She is a member of the Moot Court Board, Women’s Law Association, and Phi Alpha Delta chapter at Elon Law. In September, the law school announced that she had earned the Strongest Comprehensive Performance award in three classes: Civil Procedure, Torts, and Legal Writing. Strongest Comprehensive Performance awards are given annually to the student who has the best overall performance in each required class at the law school.
Sprague serves as articles editor for the Elon Law Review and vice president of training for the Innocence Project at Elon Law. He has also participated in the law school’s VITA Tax Assistance Clinic, which won the Greensboro Bar Association’s annual pro bono award in 2009. In addition, Sprague was among three Elon Law students chosen to participate in the Equal Justice Works 2010 Summer Corps Program.
Sprague is a private pilot with career interests that include corporate practice in the aviation industry. He has served in the in-house legal department of TIMCO Aviation Services, Inc., a world-leading provider of maintenance, repair and overhaul services for private and military operators of heavy turbojet aircraft, with headquarters located at Piedmont Triad International Airport.
The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is the world’s largest organization serving the professional and business interests of attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations, associations and other private-sector organizations.
The Research Triangle Area Chapter (RTAC) of the association serves more than 200 members in central and eastern North Carolina. The chapter provides educational programs on topics relevant to in-house law practice.
