For a second consecutive year, every member of the faculty at Elon University School of Law contributed to the Law School Faculty and Staff Campaign in 2010. Giving from the staff at Elon Law rose from 80 percent in 2009 to 100 percent in 2010. Support from the law faculty and staff raises substantial funds for law student scholarships.
Eugenia Leggett, associate dean for development at Elon Law, said the breadth of financial contributions from faculty and staff to the annual fund was evidence of broad support within the institution for the law school’s mission and program of study.
“I don’t know of another institution in higher education where one hundred percent of the faculty and staff are contributing funds toward scholarships for students,” Leggett said. “It’s inspiring to be a part of a law school community where every member of the faculty and staff is donating in support of student scholarships. My colleagues are incredible!”
Elon Law professor Andy Haile said he contributes to the scholarship fund because he values the school’s mission.
“How you spend your money reflects what’s important to you,” Haile said. “To me, providing support to an institution that is training tomorrow’s leaders is important.”
Karen Chisnall, a member of the Career Services staff at Elon Law who helped to organize the faculty and staff campaign this year, said she appreciated knowing that all the funds donated are used to help students.
“I give to support our law students,” Chisnall said. “I know that 100% of my gift goes toward scholarships for our law students.”
The total amount contributed by law school faculty and staff to the scholarship campaign reached a record level this year.
