Please join us this Sunday evening for a Taize Service
Feb. 27, 7:30 – 8:15 p.m.
Belk Pavilion (not library) room 208
What is Taize?
In the 1940’s a small group of monks formed a monastery in the tiny town of Taize, France. They shaped their daily rhythms around simple living, service to the community, and worship. A contemplative style of Christian worship emerged, one that drew heavily on meditative prayer and song, periods of silence, and the use of worship arts. This “Taize” form of worship has begun to be recognized globally and many people globally are embracing the reflective and meditative style it provides.
For many of us the end of winter carries a theme of waiting, expectation, and the hope of new possibilities. As winter begins to rotate into spring, we wait with expectation for the newness that is to come. This evening feel the invitation to open yourself to your inner season of spring and to “wait within” the new possibilities that lie in store for this year…
The service consists of:
- candles
- simple songs
- poetry
- scripture in many languages
- silence and reflection
