Results are in from Week #1 of this spring’s four-week POWERless Energy Competition. Residence halls on campus have a combined energy reduction of 7.9 percent.
Organizers hope to achieve a 10 percent decrease in energy usage by the end of the contest.
Results by competition category are as follows:
Buildings Division I: The Oaks buildings A, B, F, E and D are currently dominating the category, showing reductions ranging from 11% to 6.9%.
Buildings Division II: Both Academic Village residence halls (Kenan Honors Pavilion and Isabella Cannon International Pavilion) are at the top of the pack, showing substantial reductions of 22.5% and 20.9%, respectively.
They are closely followed by Loy A, B, C and Danieley Center O, with reductions of 20.8% and 19.6%, respectively.
Areas Division I: The Oaks are leading the Division I Areas, with a 8.4% reduction. West Area follows with a 5.1% reduction.
Areas Division II: All areas in Division II have posted results exceeding the campus-wide reduction goal. The Academic Village Pavilions, Loy Center and Danieley Center showed reductions of 21.6%, 12.4% and 12.1%, respectively.
