Elon placed third in the state finals of the CFA Global Investment Research Challenge, held Saturday, February 26 at UNCG's Bryan School of Business and Economics.
Seniors Dylan Ketcham, Kaitlin Marvin, Kara Moore, Ryan Rosati and Matt Verboon surpassed MBA teams from Duke and Wake Forest to advance to the finals in Elon’s first appearance in the challenge.
The invitation-only CFA Global IRC has business and finance undergraduate and MBA students research and report on a company and present their analysis to a high-profile panel of investment and finance professionals. The Elon team gave an analysis on Durham-based Cree, Inc., a market-leading innovator of LED lighting solutions. Faculty advisor for the Elon team is Neeraj Gupta, assistant professor of finance in the Love School of Business.
Elon was the only all-undergraduate team in the top three. The first-place team from UNC-Charlotte and second-place team from UNC-Chapel Hill had MBA and undergraduate students.
The CFA Global Investment Research Challenge is sponsored by the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Institute, one of the most respected organizations for finance professionals.
