In advance of the Spring Convocation, the Truitt Center for Religious & Spiritual Life invites interested faculty and staff to join in reading and conversation around Convocation panelist Eboo Patel’s book Acts of Faith: The Story of an American Muslim, the Struggle for the Soul of a Generation. The book discussion group will meet twice prior to the April 7 Convocation (March 17 and April 5 at 3:30 p.m.). The first 12 who reply with a commitment to read the book, attend at least one of the discussion meetings, and attend Spring Convocation will receive a complimentary copy of the book. If response is high we will form a second group of up to12.
About Eboo Patel
Named by US News & World Report as one of America’s Best Leaders of 2009, Eboo Patel is the founder and Executive Director of Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC), a Chicago-based institution building the global interfaith youth movement. An American Muslim of Indian heritage, Patel is an author, journalist, and member of President Barack Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships. Author of the award-winning book Acts of Faith: The Story of an American Muslim, the Struggle for the Soul of a Generation, Eboo is also a regular contributor to The Washington Post, National Public Radio and CNN. He holds a doctorate in the sociology of religion from Oxford University, where he studied on a Rhodes scholarship.
