Elizabeth Kolbert, an award-winning investigative journalist and author of Field Notes from a Catastrophe: Man, Nature and Climate Change and The Prophet of Love and Other Tales of Power and Deceit, visits Elon University on March 10 for an evening lecture sponsored by the Liberal Arts Forum.

Alan Russell receives grant from the Japan Foundation

Alan Russell, associate professor of mathematics, received a grant from the Japan Foundation's Center for Global Partnership. The grant supports his work, "Origami as a Gateway for the Study of Japanese Culture and Society," allows him to strengthen and deepen his work with Clover Garden School, a K-12 charter school in northern Alamance County.
Sam Slaughter ’09 wins journalism award

Alumnus Sam Slaughter, a municipal beat reporter for Greater Media Newspapers in New Jersey, recently won a third-place award from the New Jersey Press Association for weekly feature writing. Slaughter, a 2009 graduate, majored in English, anthropology and sociology at Elon.
