Elon University has collected more than 23,000 pounds of material in the first three weeks of the national RecycleMania 2011 contest and is currently in 10th place in North Carolina for the total amount saved from landfills.
RecycleMania week #3 national results for Elon (February 20-26):
Grand Champion Results – 23,236 lbs collected (compared head-to-head by totals collected)
· Placed 220th out of 465 registered participating schools
· 10th out of 16 schools from North Carolina
· 3rd out of 6 schools from the Southern Conference
Per Capita Classic Division – 3.46 lbs cumulative
· Placed 207th out of 463 registered participating schools
· 7th out of 16 schools from North Carolina
· 3rd out of 6 from the Southern Conference
Week 3 breakdown:
Paper Collection – 1.11 cumulative (2,219 lbs collected)
Cardboard Collection – 1.56 cumulative (3,120 lbs collected)
Plastic / Aluminum / Glass – 1.00 cumulative (2,000 lbs collected)
