Are you interested in the ancient world of gladiators and emperors; inspired by the lives of martyrs and mystics; intrigued by the connections between the Vatican and Mussolini? Would you like to learn how to understand and talk about ancient and medieval art, meet someone (most likely your age) who has decided to become a monk, visit some of the most well-preserved Temples from the ancient world, learn about the history of Italian food and wine from a local winemaker?
If you answered “yes” to any of the above you should join us for an informal information session on the Winter Term study abroad course “Italy’s Heritage: Past is Present.” This is an interdisciplinary course that explores the ways that Italy’s rich ancient and medieval history continues to shape the modern world.
Professors Lynn Huber (religious studies) and Evan Gatti (art history) will be available to answer your questions and to talk with you about the course from 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 31. We will be gathering in the Religious Studies Suite, which is upstairs (Room 207) in Spence Pavilion in the Academic Village. If you have questions about the meeting or the course, please feel free to contact either professor at lhuber@elon.edu or egatti@elon.edu.
