Ian Baltutis '08 leads a group of young alumni who will give $20,000 to Elon if the goal of 1,200 donors to the IGNITE Challenge is reached by March 31. Baltutis explains the group's bonus gift in a special video announcement. So far, 655 young alums have made gifts to the university and had them matched 5-to-1 by Elon alumna and trustee Kerrii Brown Anderson ’79 as part of the Challenge. The total raised so far is $183,706. Anderson also will donate an additional $20,000 to Elon if the 1,200 donor goal is met.
In addition to Baltutis, the young alumni donors include: Parker Turner ‘06, Emily Turner ‘06, Jay Myers ‘07, R.J. Yozwiak ‘08, Jack McMackin ‘08, Andrew Bennett ‘08, Kathleen Niple ’05 and Cam Tims ’00.
Elon needs an additional 545 donors to reach the goal.
Here’s how the IGNITE Challenge works:
Make a gift of $20 or more during March and Anderson will match it 5-to-1. Young alumni must make gifts of $20 or more to be eligible for the match. Qualifying gifts include cash, online gifts, recurring gifts and payments on any pledge made since June 1, 2010. These gifts qualify donors for membership in IGNITE.
The payoff:
5-to-1
Make a gift of $20, and Anderson will contribute $100 to Elon. Give $100 and Anderson will give $500. Anderson’s matching dollars will support students, faculty and programs.
The bonus:
If 1,200 young alums participate in this year’s Challenge by March 31, Anderson will donate an additional $20,000 to Elon, and the group of young alumni donors will give $20,000 as well.
Anderson, former CEO of Wendy’s International, has encouraged all young alumni to participate in the Challenge and maximize their support for their alma mater.
“I give to Elon because I believe in this place,” Anderson says. “Elon made me who I am today.”
Young alumni may designate their gifts to their academic department or school, as well as athletics, scholarships or the program they valued most. Thank you for supporting Elon.
