The Third Annual Nazim Hikmet Poetry Festival, which honors the work of Hikmet, the Turkish poet, has invited Kevin Boyle to read a few poems on April 17th in Cary, NC.
Boyle’s poems will also be published in a chapbook created by the literary festival. One of Boyle’s poems is called “Things I Knew I Loved And Didn’t Know I Loved,” a playful parody of a Hikmet poem, “Things I Knew I Loved”; the other is a playful parody of another poem by Hikmet in which he suggests we should live “with great seriousness like a squirrel.”
