Elon Army ROTC hosted its third-annual German Armed Forces Military Proficiency Badge testing Feb. 28- March 1. Three Cadets - Jack Selbo, Elliott Nuss and William Patton - were awarded the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency in Gold.

The Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning is seeking nominations and applications for a new position, Associate Director of CATL. Because the position requires detailed knowledge of Elon University’s students, curriculum, and faculty, hiring for this position will involve an internal search. A faculty search committee will select the new Associate Director during the spring semester. The new Associate Director will begin his or her duties with the Center at the start of the 2011-12 academic year. Applications must be received by Peter Felten by Monday, March 28.

In most introductory counseling courses, students are required to practice their counseling skills through role play activities in the classroom and demonstrating their learning through mock counseling sessions in class or on video or audiotapes. These role play activities, while helpful in providing practical experience, often lack the authenticity of a real client-helper exchange.

A national expert on the politics of health and social policy visits Elon University on Thursday evening for the James P. Elder Lecture in Whitley Auditorium. Jacob S. Hacker of Yale University delivers remarks at 6:30 p.m. in his address, "Reform 2.0: The Battle over the Future of American Health Care," where he will examine what's ahead in the ongoing debate over national health care reform.
