Live Oak Communications applications are due TODAY

Live Oak Communications, Elon's student-run, full-service communications agency, is currently seeking qualified applicants for the fall of 2011. Live Oak develops and executes communications programs for businesses and not-for-profit organizations in the North Carolina region.

Live Oak has a particular interest in students with business, marketing, art, design or video backgrounds, as well as students with communications expertise. Students may apply by filling out an application and returning it by email by Thursday, April 14, to management.liveoak@gmail.com.

“Live Oak bridges the gap between the hypothetical strategic communications plans we learn about in a classroom and the implementation of these strategies and tactics,” said Nicole Parker, director of Live Oak.

Services that Live Oak offers include public relations, advertising, special event marketing, viral marketing, media relations, website development, video creation and graphic design. Students from all majors and years are encouraged to apply for specific positions. All hired positions receive class credit in addition to professional experience.

“The agency provides us the opportunity to demonstrate and enhance our creative abilities through website design, advertising campaigns and promotional videos for both local and national clients,” said Luke Lovett, creative director of Live Oak.

Live Oak serves six to eight clients every semester, both on and off campus. Past clients have included Earth Share of North Carolina, Reach Out and Read, ProFeet sports socks, the Durham Arts Council, Burlington Downtown Corporation and the Natural Science Center of Greensboro.

Interviews will be conducted in mid-April by the director and assistant director. A Live Oak Open House will be held from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, at the Live Oak office located in the Priestly building at 100 Williamson Ave., Elon, N.C.
