Assistant Professors of Statistics Kirsten Doehler and Laura Taylor and Assistant Professor of Mathematics Karen Yokley attended the first meeting of the North Carolina Symposium for Women in Mathematics and Statistics at North Carolina State University this April. Statistics major Keyona Osborne ’12 also attended the symposium.

The Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement at Elon University is coordinating a trip on Saturday, April 23, to Methodist University in Fayetteville, N.C., for students who wish to help clear debris from the recent tornados in surrounding communities.

Doug McAdam, a professor at Stanford University and pioneer in analyzing social movements, will visit Elon April 18-19 and give a public lecture. McAdam will speak on “The Long-term Civic Impact of Youth Activism: The Curious Contrast between Freedom Summer and Teach for America" at 7:30 p.m., April 18, in Whitley Auditorium.
