Elon Biology Club members are first undergraduate DNA Day Ambassadors

Elon Biology Club members, Neha Sampat, Steven Greenberg, Kathryn Milizio, Elise Post and Brittany White were the first Elon undergraduate Ambassadors of science to participate in DNA Day on April 15.

These biology juniors and seniors traveled to Hugh Cummings High School in Burlington, N.C., with biology professor Jennifer Uno where they worked with students on a fun and exciting forensic science project.

National DNA Day commemorates the completion of the Human Genome Project in April 2003, and the discovery of DNA’s double helix in 1953. On April 15, over 100 Scientist Ambassadors from UNC Chapel Hill, Duke, NC State, NIEHS, UNC Charlotte, Wake Forest and Elon University traveled to over 200 North Carolina high school classrooms to discuss current and exciting topics related to DNA.
