Professors, student in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics present at symposium

Assistant Professors of Statistics Kirsten Doehler and Laura Taylor and Assistant Professor of Mathematics Karen Yokley attended the first meeting of the North Carolina Symposium for Women in Mathematics and Statistics at North Carolina State University this April. Statistics major Keyona Osborne ’12 also attended the symposium.

Dr. Doehler presented “Faculty Perceptions Towards Statistics,” which is based on joint research with Dr. Taylor.  Dr. Yokley contributed a presentation entitled “An Agent-Based Approach to Modeling Malaria Infection.” Osborne also presented her work, “A Simulation Study of Estimators Using Contaminated Data,” which is mentored by Dr. Taylor.
