"One on One Sports," Elon University's student-run sports debate talk show, will air three hours of live coverage and online streaming of the 2011 NFL Draft Thursday, April 28 in Studio A of the McEwen School of Communications. The draft special will feature a live studio audience and incorporate student participation.
“The live aspect is important because it is ‘One on One’s’ first foray into live television,” said “One on One Sports” production coordinator Lindsay Humbert. “This is the first thing of this magnitude for sports within the university. It’s a groundbreaking experience and a big opportunity for us to try something new.”
The first-ever special edition show will provide an alternative to ESPN’s coverage and feature Elon-centric reports. On-air hosts will provide instant picks, analysis and debate. With food and games, students who attend can enjoy a comfortable, social atmosphere with fellow NFL fanatics, compete for prizes and even have the opportunity to represent their favorite team on television.
“One on One Sports” has been collaborating with “Phoenix14News,” Elon University’s weekly newscast, in a joint effort to broadcast the event.
“I thought this would be a great idea for our organization because of its challenging nature and the opportunity it presents,” said coordinating producer and host Joseph Accordino. “As a team, we will spend well over 1,000 hours on this project, and we are bringing in members from other Elon TV shows to share their expertise.”
Students who cannot watch it live can tune in to campus channel 14 or view ESTV’s live web stream at http://org.elon.edu/estv/live_stream.html.
“One on One Sports” airs on Elon’s campus weekly on Thursdays.
