Howard Katz participates in panel on judicial activism at Midwest Political Science Association conference

Elon Law Professor Howard Katz served as chair and discussant for the panel, "Judicial Activism, Regime Politics, and the U.S. Supreme Court," at the 2011 Conference of the Midwest Political Science Association, held March 31 through April 3 in Chicago.

Other participants in the panel included: Jenna Becker, Nicolas Anspach, and David Adamany of Temple University; David Dehnel of Augustana College; Robert Reif Robinson of the University of Alabama, Birmingham; Matthew E. K. Hall of St. Louis University; and Joseph D. Ura of Texas A&M University.

Subjects explored in the panel included the role of the Supreme Court in critical election periods, the influence of majority party coalitions on Supreme Court actions, and the citation practices of activist judges.
