Ross Wade, assistant director of Career Services for the School of Communications, and a team of four bloggers are finalists for a 2011 National Association of Colleges and Employers' (NACE) 2011 NACE Innovation Excellence Award (technology category).
Wade created the “Eye on iMedia” blog two years ago in an effort to educate students on careers in interactive media, to market the new Interactive Media master’s program and to connect students to employers.
After a year of writing weekly posts, Ross added a team of four writers to contribute to the blog, which includes: Maggie Mullikin, assistant coordinator for internships and the iMedia graduate program, who posts career profiles of iMedia alumni; Colleen Callahan, a 2010 iMedia graduate, who posts on her job search journey and experience starting her first professional job; Meghan Gargan, a 2011 iMedia graduate, who posts on her iMedia program experience, growth as a professional and job search process; and Brad Berkner, the coordinator of interactive projects, who posts on relevant news and events in the world of interactive media.
Wade will attend the 2011 NACE conference in Dallas the first week of June, where he will represent Elon Career Services and the blog team, to find out if the Eye on iMedia career blog takes home the award.
Established in 1956, NACE is the leading source of information on the employment of the college educated. The professional association connects more than 5,200 college career services professionals at nearly 2,000 college and universities nationwide and more than 3,000 HR/staffing professionals focused on college relations and recruiting.
