Martin “Marty” Blevins was presented with the Richard H. Behrman Award on May 19 at a dinner to celebrate Elon’s 25th graduating MBA class.
Named after Richard “Dick” Behrman, who was the first director of the Elon University MBA program, the annual award is given to the most outstanding graduating MBA student. The MBA faculty selected Blevins because of his academic excellence and leadership in both the program and community activities.
“On all counts Marty is a great choice for this year’s Behrman award,” said Dr. Bill Burpitt, associate dean for graduate and executive programs. “He is an outstanding student. But equally important, he exemplifies the emphasis on community, students helping and learning from one another. Marty is such a great member of our community and a clear choice for this year’s award.”
The MBA graduation dinner also honored the 2011 Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma initiates, as well as, Dr. Buck McGregor, who is retiring after 21 years of teaching and service at Elon.
Blye Hunsinger G’06, human resources business partner for Global Human Resources at Quintiles, was the featured speaker. Blye served as the graduate student representative on the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business Board of Advisors while enrolled in the MBA program.
