Physics undergraduate presents black hole research at American Astronomical Society meeting

Elon freshman Todd Calnan presented his research on the energetics of the supermassive black hole in one of our nearest galactic neigbors, Centaurus A, at the 218th meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Boston on May 25.

Cindy Fair co-authors two journal articles with Elon alumni

Associate professor Cynthia Fair, chair of the Department of Human Service Studies, has co-authored with Elon alumni two articles focused on a longitudinal assessment of the Chapel Buddy Program, a developmental mentoring program that pairs kindergarten students with 6th grade students at a school in Greensboro, N.C.
Inaugural moot court competition to honor three of North Carolina’s most distinguished lawyers

The inaugural Billings, Exum & Frye National Moot Court Competition taking place March 31 through April 2, is named in honor of three former chief justices of the North Carolina Supreme Court. Seventeen law schools and more than 30 teams of law students will participate in the competition, which will take place annually.
Physical Therapy Student Completes Placement in Kenya

Doctor of Physical Therapy student, Danielle Gilbert, recently completed a four-week experience in Migori, Kenya. Gilbert opted for an independent study during her Advanced Clinical Practice Selective course and worked at St. Joseph Mission Hospital. A third-year student from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, Gilbert completed her undergraduate degree at Elon in 2009 with a major in exercise science, and had studied abroad in Ghana during a winter term.
