For the second time this year, Leary Davis, founding dean and professor of law emeritus, presented at the University of Maryland School of Law on the state of leadership education in law schools.
His presentation, titled, “Leadership Studies in Legal Education: Where We Are Nationally,” was presented on May 27. Davis suggested through the presentation that there is likely to be fundamental change in the way law is practiced, that legal education will also be pressured to change, and that there are ways in which leadership theory and practice could help.
On February 28, Davis presented “Why Law Schools Should Emphasize Leadership Theory and Practice,” at the University of Maryland School of Law. That presentation surveyed basic and advanced leadership skills important for success in the legal profession, models for leadership education in law schools, and obstacles to broad reform of legal education.
Both forums were organized through the University of Maryland School of Law’s Leadership, Ethics, and Democracy program (LEAD).
